The Rip Curl Stew is happening this weekend in Tofino. The event is one of Canada's major surf contests. Sitka is sposoring the event, and you can expect to see our tent and crew on the beach. Come say hi, watch our team compete, check out our merchandise, win free schwag, play some games, watch Carla Dearman paint a surfboard and enter a draw to win a surf lesson with Sitka surf team member, Noah Cohen.
You may also find us celebrating in the evening. A photo here to remind you how we throw down. No pants? No problem!
See you in Tofino!

TOP CANADIAN SURFERS READY
TO HEAT UP
5th ANNUAL RIP CURL STEW CONTEST
TOFINO, BC—On Saturday June 11th and Sunday June 12th Canada’s top professional surfers and some impressive up-and-comers will take to the Pacific North West’s cold waves to heat up the fifth annual Rip Curl Stew presented by Monster Energy surf contest.
Last year’s competition drew an impressive 90 competitors and 850 spectators to Cox Bay, near Canada’s surfing capital, Tofino, BC, numbers event coordinators expect to beat this year.
The two-day, judged surf contest offers the largest purses in any Canadian surfing event. The contest is open to competitors of all ages with the men’s category first place winner taking home $5,000, and women’s category first taking home $1,500. Other categories include Mixed Groms (surfers under 12-years-old) and Masters (competitors over 35 years of age).
This year’s contestants include top Canadian professional surfers Raph and Sepp Bruhwiler, Noah Cohen, Catherine Temple, Leah Oke and Tamara Stephens.
The “pot thickens” out of the water with Rip Curl and big-name event sponsors dishing up two nights of “après surf” events, thousands of dollars worth of swag, and next-generation wetsuit technology demonstrations. Surfrider Foundation, an international non-profit dedicated to the protection of the world’s oceans, waves, and beaches, will be serving stew by donation, right on the beach.
Admission to the Rip Curl Stew for spectators is free. The Rip Curl Stew will be updating its website daily with weather forecasts, tide predictions, and images of the event’s greatest action.
The Rip Curl Stew will be served up between 8:00AM and 6:00PM on Saturday June 11th and Sunday June 12th.
