Alaia (ah-LIE-ah)Just wanted to drop a little surfing history on ya for a sec. Here at the Vancouver shop we have the privilege of carrying not only a piece of surfing history, but of the future as well. Its called an Alaia. An Alaia is a thin, round-nosed, square-tailed surfboard ridden in the pre-20th century Hawaii. Originally the boards were between 7-12 feet long, weighed up to 100 pounds, and were generally made from koa wood. They are distinct from modern boards in that they have no fins or leash.

Spring Launch Party!!!The introduction of spring brings a few things along with it. For one the snow starts to melt up on the hills and Apre' for some reason gets a whole lot more fun, the cherry blossoms start to show, the sun starts showing itself a little more (not much more....this is Vancouver) and above all Sitka gets its new spring line!!
